Game 6 - Final Thoughts

Excellent play by the Jazz in the second half to come back and actually turn this into a game, but all I kept thinking was "where was this in the first half?"

-Deron was a beast, hard to believe he's only been in the league for 3 years. Look for lots of amazing stuff from this guy in the future.

-Carlos struggles yet again.

-Brewer had a fantastic 3rd quarter, love to see that kind of intensity and hustle out of him.

-The combo of Harpring and Millsap were amazing at hitting the boards there at the end of the game, would've liked to have seen that in the first half as well.

-Yes there were a few bad calls again, but they didn't really matter or come close to deciding the game, as both Brandon and I have said, this game was lost in the first quarter.

-I've heard some people complain about Sloan not calling a time out after the Fisher FT miss. Personally I think that was a great call to just turn and push it. You got a pretty decent look for Okur out of it, and you probably wouldn't have gotten the offensive rebound as cleanly if the defense had time to set up after the time out... Deron's 3 was literally this close to going in...

All-in-All, it was a hard fought series, and I still can't believe there wasn't a single lead change in all 6 games. It's depressing, for sure, but let's just hope this is more experience this young team can build upon....

Gotta figure out what to do with the rest of my May though. Guess it's time to start pulling for KG.

Game 6 Halftime Thoughts

Wow... This is fugly.

Nobody to blame but our team. The refs are doing their jobs and I feel the calls have been fair. I will put a little blame on Boozer and Deron because they look HORRIBLE. Deron is really letting all Jazz fans down by not being aggressive enough. I thought this guy would be more of a leader down the stretch but haven't seen it. We all know Boozer's a choke, and I heard from a source that he is having marital issues, but that could be totally false. But could def effect his game if true.

And Jerry... What are you doing? Zone defense? Taking out Korver to bring in Miles???!?!? Have you gone mad?!? Miles got into the game and forgot that we had other players on the court. Also, Sasha Vuabitch is killing us thanks to your defense plan. Thanks Jerry. Oh and one other thing, thanks for calling so many timeouts so we can re-group and recover.

In my opinion, this game was over from early in the first quarter. Deron better show up in the second half or this will be even uglier.

A Quick Post Out Of Pure Frustration

I don't like complaining about officiating, but with 5:40 left in game 5 I have been truly frustrated with the way this fourth quarter has been called... Maybe this is just my Jazz colored glasses, I don't know - but to me, it feels like every time anyone in a Jazz uniform has just been raped down low, but any time a Laker is so much breathed on, out come the whistles.

Here's hoping the Jazz can turn it around in this quarter...

Sticking it to Those "Glass Half Empty" Guys.

I know a lot of people don't like him too much, but I've always enjoyed listening to local sports radio personality David Locke. I'm not smart enough to be quite the stats junkie he is, and sometimes find myself very "nerdily" glued to the radio dissecting the numbers and opinions he spouts out. So I couldn't help but greatly enjoy and wish to share with you all his rant following a handful of callers complaining about various "problems" the Jazz had in their Game 4 victory.

Listen to it here.

I have to agree with him in many of the rantastic points he made there. Sometimes us Jazz fans (myself certainly included) get a little too caught up in nitpicking certain aspects of their play, we don't take enough time to truly appreciate what an awesome game/season/series/performance by _____/whatever, we just witnessed....

We've Got Ourselves a Series.

Well, I think I've finally recovered from Game 4. Wow. All I can say, is wow. That was easily one of the greatest games in Jazz history. It basically had it all.

To start, I'm going to have to reiterate my school pride biased comment from my last post. Ronnie Price is the freaking man. The stitches (for the record, I don't think that was a flagrant 2), that incredible twisting reverse, and of course, that block on Walton. I can't really decide what was the best part of that play. The fact that everyone (but Ronnie) thought that was an automatic 2 points for the Lakers, the fact that it was Ronnie Price skying for the block, the fact it was on Bill's son, or the image of Ronnie standing there staring down a prostrated Luke Walton.

I really don't have a ton to say about the game other than once the final horn sounded, that was a rush of relief the likes of which I hadn't felt in quite some time. Once Derek Fisher went on his one-man spree, my nerves were all across the board as it looked like yet another Jazz collapse. In a game that they had no business losing, they were letting the Lakers climb right back into it. So when they sucked it up in OT, I finally breathed again.

Deron was amazing. This is the type of play I'd been looking for from him, every time he had the ball in his hands, you just felt like something good was going to happen. I still can't figure how he let Fish block that potential game winner like that, but in light of the final score, I'll give him a pass on that one. Dancing the half court line, the alley-oops, still dominating from behind the 3 point line, the fade away at the end of the fourth, the free throws in OT... Sore back or not, he outplayed the MVP. Even as I was watching the game, his performance felt, for lack of a better word, timeless.

Carlos went missing again. He played slightly better in the second half, but after his "reemergence" in game 3 I really expected him to come out with much more fire than we saw. The Jazz really need him to play better than he did in game 4 if they hope to steal a game in LA.

The bench was fantastic. I think a lot of us are looking for Korver to hit the 3 with the same consistency as we saw in the regular season, but he sure made a couple great plays (that diving save being chief among them), and he's got my personal favorite quote of the playoffs thus far (this is from today's shoot-around, feel free to skip to a little over the half-way point to get to the best part of the interview. Korver's hatred for Sasha Vujacic has him on my "awesome list" - the very last thing he says is the actual "quote of the day" of which I spoke)

Game 5 is going to be very interesting. I could see a fired up Jazz team coming out and sticking close through the whole game, at which point it could be anyone's game in the end - and that is the scenario I fully expect.... However, I wouldn't be shocked if the Jazz continued their Staples Center struggles. In either case, we've now got ourselves a real exciting series on our hands here.

(Extremely Belated) Quick Thoughts About Game 3

We here at JazzHype were lucky enough to be in attendance for Game 3, and as a result, neither of us were really able to get around to commenting on the game.

Here are a few quick thoughts a mere handful of hours before Game 4 tips off:

-Boozer is back! (and hopefully here to stay)

-Deron is one tough S.O.B.

-I hate Phil Jackson.

-Great Choice going back to the Blue after the terrible failed experiment at a "white-out" at ESA

-Energy Solutions Arena is the worst name for any arena in the NBA. I defy you to find one that sucks more.

-The name might suck, but the crowd still dominates. What an atmosphere.

-I hate Phil Jackson.

-I've never quite warmed up to Bolerjack's "Money" nickname for Okur, but Mehmet was just that in game 3. Would've liked to have seen more shots out of him.

-Pau Gasol needs to shut up.

-LA has no chance of out-rebounding the Jazz. Continue exploiting that.

-This ended up being a lot closer than it should have been, I couldn't help but feel like every time the Jazz were about to push the lead out of reach we started hearing lots of whistles, and watching lots of the infamous Dick Bavetta dance moves.

-I love Ronnie Price's hustle. UV pride!

-We're only one more game like that away from a real series here.

Game 4 here we come! (oh and I also hate Phil Jackson. A lot.)

Let the Theories Begin.

Thanks to basketballjohn for turning me towards this article. I mentioned the FT discrepancy earlier, but when the LA Times writes an article about what all of us are thinking but not really saying, I couldn't help but chuckle. In a sad hopeless kind of way...

There are lots of reasons the Jazz lost games 1 and 2, but those 27 extra free throws certainly didn't help.

check it out at:
http://www.latimes.com/sports/basketball/nba/lakers/la-sp-simers8-2008may08,0,1530531.column

A few random thoughts.

Here are just a few things that ran through my head while trying to stomach last night's game:

-Matt Harpring must stop shooting the ball.

-Kobe really enjoys taking it to AK.

-I Hate Phil Jackson.

-Paul Millsap is the man.

-
I don't care how much more the Lakers are the aggressor, almost 30 more FT attempts than the Jazz is insane.

-I can't wait to see the stuff the fans at ESA have ready for Kobe on Fri.

-I hate Phil Jackson.

-The Laker Girls looked especially whoreish tonight.

-I hate Phil Jackson.

-And Kobe.

And here's a thought...

I'm going to have to respectfully disagree with Brandon on his idea. Trade Boozer for who? If he's truly as terrible as he sounds, we're sure not going to get anything good in return...

Last night after the game, the frustrations with the Jazz's performance in the last two games led to a discussion between my JazzHype co-contributor and me. He (quite legitimately) very frustrated with Carlos Boozer, and venting those frustrations in a very direct manner. That got me to thinking, how much is Carlos to blame, and where is this slump coming from? The guy was an All-Star and average 21 and 10, so I personally haven't been sick of him all year. He's not the guy who is going to take over and carry the team on his back when they're in absolute need of it though... That's not Carlos, and I don't think anyone expects that to be Carlos, that duty belongs to Deron Williams. Which is why the person who I've been most disappointed with so far this post season is DWill.

Sure Carlos has struggled a great deal more, but I think you can see a more definitive reason why. He had a handful of the toughest defensive big men in the entire league plastered to him for the entire Houston series in Landry, Hayes and Mutombo. They out defensed his offense and how hard he took it was well documented. Now he's playing within himself in the Lakers series, and has drawn Lamar Odom defensively, a guy who plays far too well off the dribble for Carlos, as his early foul trouble has shown. Should he be bigger and better than this? Of course, but am I surprised? Not really...

Maybe it's just a case of me having low expectations for Carlos and astronomically high expectations for Deron this post season, but when I see what Chris Paul has been doing to Jason Kidd and Tony Parker, I wonder what happened to the Deron Williams we saw in last year's playoffs. This year, while Deron has certainly had his moments, I haven't seen him put together a sustained "I'm taking over this game, now" moment with the exception of a quarter of game 6 in Houston (when I thought he'd finally broken out) and when it was a little too late in last night's game. It does seem quite obvious now that the Paul Williams comparisons are a little unfair, but as I mentioned, Paul has dominated some of the best point guards in the league; Williams has faced Bobby Jackson/Rafer Alston, and has seemed tentative against his former backup Derek Fisher.

Now don't get me wrong, I'm not putting all blame on Deron and giving Carlos a free pass here. Both players were scoreless in the first quarter yesterday, and that's simply unacceptable... I'm just saying I expected more out of Deron.

With this being said, I'm a fan, and as such I have blind hope and devotion that come game 3 Deron will come out with full intensity, and start to realize he can take it to Derek Fisher anytime, anywhere. I don't expect Booze to come out and take over the game, but I do hope he can stay out of early foul trouble this time and put up decent numbers.

The Jazz are up against the best team in the West, and it's showing. I'm not ready to push the panic button and blow up the team quite yet though. If come next season Carlos is as absent as this post season, then we might be looking at a different situation.

Here's an idea...

Let's trade Boozer. I have been sick of him this whole year. Let's get someone that actually has a heart and wants to win. Boozer is a sloppy, wimpy player that chokes in the playoffs and needs to be traded this summer. You can trade Harpring is well, I wouldn't care.

I don't have a ton to say about this game, but it comes down to everyone sucking and not realizing that YOU ARE IN THE PLAYOFFS! You can't decide to turn up your game late in third quarter.

Hope we make some serious changes coming back to Utah, cause this is ridiculous....

WHY ARE WE SO INTIMIDATED BY THE LAKERS??? I don't get it. No heart, no drive..... very sad.

Western Semis - Game 1 - Live Reactions

Final - Jazz 98 Lakers 109

The Jazz can come away from this game with the idea that they lost this game, LA didn't necessarily win it. If they can build on that idea, keep controlling the boards and cut down on the TOs and poor shot selection, game two could be very winnable
.

:48 left in 4th - Jezz 90 Lakers 98

It wasn't just Kobe to close this out, it was the 1-2 Kobe/Gasol combo that finished the Jazz today... That missed layup by Deron that seemed to just seemed to hang there forever pretty much summed up how this game went. With no margin for error they missed 12 straight field goals.
Definitely a much different team than Houston, and the Jazz had many chances to win this game. You can only hope that they come out on Wed without the mental lapses we saw today in the 2nd quarter and at the end of the 4th.

3:28 left in 4th - Jazz 87 Lakers 94

Kobe finally misses from the line, Lakers are looking like the aggressors right now, and Booze is out. No margin for error for Utah right now.

4:31 left in 4th - Jazz 87 Lakers 91

Jazz almost let it get away from there, but brought back the hustle and now they're right back in the game. Look for Kobe to come at them with everything he's got now. Have to weather that storm and keep executing.

8:18 left in 4th - Jazz 78 Lakers 85

I like this strategy right now, Lakers in the penalty, just send Korver flying everywhere and get him to the line...

9:06 left in 4th - Jazz 74 Lakers 83

4 team fouls on LA already, that's good... Too many shots for Harp, he shouldn't be the Jazz's main offensive option at this point.

Start of 4th

I hate Phil Jackson. One of our friends at dream shake made a comment about Phil Jackson being the king of whining about officiating, and the zenmaster backed that up with his ridiculous remark about officiating coming out of the break.

End of 3rd - Jazz 72 Lakers 79

Fantastic shot by DWill to end the quarter. If the Jazz don't relapse into the 2nd quarter version of themselves, we could be in for a great finish here.

4:4
0 left in 3rd - Jazz 58 Lakers 68

Let's hope the Jazz can keep this run going, Booze turning it up and Okur playing great. Still can't believe Kobe was called for a charge on Brewer, always great to see Kobe get called for an offensive...

8:02 left in 3rd - Jazz 49 Lakers 66

So much for coming out with intensity and focus to the offense... Still looking like the Jazz have no focus to their offense in the least bit, and just handing the ball to the Lakers to score in transition.
Side note - does anyone else hate any and all Axe commercials as I do?

End of 2nd - Jazz 41 Lakers 54

Great shot by CJ, horrible foul... Utah sucks chants briefly start, and the Lakers fans aren't that far off after that second quarter. Not really sure what changed after that bench run by Los Angeles, but on offense the Jazz just looked scrambled and confused. Jacking up ill-advised shots, dribbling around not looking like they have a purpose. This lead to lots of fast break points by LA, and we're now looking at a 13 point defecit. Deron must come out with more intensity in the second half, and the Jazz must start playing within their offense again, or this game will be over soon.

6:04 left in 2nd - Jazz 28 Lakers 41

Absolutely horrendous outside shooting for the Jazz, really playing right into the Lakers' hands right now. Big test coming out of this time out, look for Deron to take more control of the game.

8:41 left in 2nd - Jazz 26 Lakers 34

Vujacic just stepped in and absolutely killed the Jazz. The unexplained rush of hatred I felt when Sasha checked in, leads me to believe that he's given us these types of problems in the past. Lots of blocks going on thus far, from both teams.. Let's hope the Jazz stay patient through this little Sasha run and keep up the smart play they had going in the 1st.

End of 1st - Jazz 24 Lakers 25

Pretty pleased with this quarter... LA went on an early run, and I like the way the Jazz responded with smart passing and good shots in the paint. Poor free throw shooting is the only reason the Jazz aren't up right now.

Saturday, May 3, 2008

Phew....

Okay, I'm finally ready to end my self-imposed vow of silence... I don't know whether it was the fact that I didn't really have anything nice to say about the Jazz at that point of the series, or whether I just felt there was some kind of connection between my blogging and the teams putrid performance the other night. In any case, I'm back now, and hopefully so are the Jazz.

With the conclusion of last night's game, and subsequently the first round series with the Rockets, it's time to hand out the first ever Post-Series Awards, First Round Edition.

Most Valuable Player of the Series
Deron Williams and Rafer Alston
-I couldn't help but come to this conclusion here...
Deron didn't always perform up to what we've come to expect from him, especially come playoff time; but as we were able to see in the third quarter of last night's game - Utah doesn't really have anyone else who can put the team on their back and will them to victory. They'd be truly lost without him.

Which brings me to Rafer... I was one of those guys who scoffed when analysts made a big deal about Alston missing the first couple of games. I mean, it's Rafer Alston, how big a difference could it make? Yeah, the guy can hit the three, but he's nowhere near the same class as Deron Williams, so it doesn't really matter if he's there or not... As we saw from games 1 & 2, and in game 6 once Alston went down, when Jackson and Brooks were all Houston had to throw at Williams and the Jazz, the tone of the game was much MUCH different.

6th Man of the Series
Jazz Fans

-Yeah, I'm biased on this one, and I don't care. Houston fans brought it too, I'm not going to discredit that in the least bit. In fact, I'm going to miss the intensity you could see, hear and feel coming from the crowd in Houston or Utah; something I can't help but feel we won't be experiencing in the LA series. Edge goes to Utah on this one due to the fact the Jazz won twice in Houston.

Surprise Performance of the Series
Andrei Kirilenko - Game 1

-Booze and D-Will both put in good numbers for game 1, but it was AK that really jumped out at me. 21 points, 8-12 from the field, 1-2 from behind the arc, 4-5 from the free-throw line; when he's shooting that well, the Jazz are hard to beat.

Surprise Player of the Series
Carl Landry
-So maybe this is isn't quite the "surprise" to Houston fans, but this guy was someone not on my radar before the series started, and he's played out of his mind once it started. His game saving block in game 3 helped prevent what could've probably been a sweep by the Jazz, and he was part of the three headed monster along with Hayes and Mutombo that helped make this series a nightmare for Carlos Boozer. Glad the Lakers won't have anyone even close to that come next round.

The "Better Luck Next Time" Award
T-Mac

-I don't feel as much animosity towards McGrady as my co-contributer here at JazzHype. I'm certainly not a fan or anything, but I do feel for the guy. You can't deny he's a talented player, and that 10 years of this type of failure in the post season has just got to be eating away at him, and for that I am sympathetic... However, when he pulls stuff out like his "DER-on" comments, and his throwing of teammates under the bus it sure makes it easier to throw him under the bus. Better luck next year Tracy, let's hope you face off against someone other than the Jazz in the first round.

Well, I guess that'll wrap our first ever "awards ceremony" - congrats to the Jazz, hats off to the Rockets for one hard fought series, and let's bring on the Lakers.

Final Farewell to Tracy McGrady (We Promise!)

If you would like a few laughs, and you are a Tracy McGrady hater like me, watch this video the whole way through. Man is it funny.

Friday, May 2, 2008

Bye Bye McGrady! We will miss your stupid comments. NOT!!

(look at how people just "baby" this guy that thinks he is a superstar)

Well now that the Rockets are on vacation and Tracy is 0-7 in the first round in the playoffs, one thing is for certain, we are NOT going to miss his stupid comments. Just for fun, we are going to leave you with some dumb Tracy McGrady comments the girl has made over the years. Tracy is a girl name.

Oh and just a little f.y.i. for you Tracy, Superstars don't make these types of comments.

Here we go....

“It offends me, ... I've been in this league nine years. I come to the game sometimes in jeans and a T-shirt, and I don't think people look at that as me being a thug. I get endorsement deals because of the way I carry myself. The way that I dress doesn't have anything to do with the type of person I am.”

“I don't have a problem wearing suits, but that's not who I am, ... You had one of the greatest power forwards of all time, Karl Malone, and he came to the games in jeans, a T-shirt, cowboy boots and a cowboy hat. It's going to be hard for me to change.”

"[My] career was sputtering until [i] did a 360 and got headed in the right direction."
NBA star Tracy McGrady, after signing with the Orlando Magic.

“I'm not just a basketball player. I've got other talents.”

“You should have seen me when I put on my uniform. I felt like a kid all over again.”

“I actually felt like all of them were going in, especially the one when I got fouled. As soon as that shot went up, I was thinking San Antonio, I swear I was.”

“It’s my fault,” McGrady said. “It’s my fault we missed free throws. It’s my fault we lost both games. Blame me. It’s my fault we fouled to tie the game up. That’s my fault. It’s my fault they get easy layups. It’s my fault we’re not executing well on the offensive end. It’s my fault a couple people in the stands ordered Heinekens and they got Budweiser. It’s my fault. I’m sorry.”

“Everybody’s blaming me. The Suns (for being down 2-0 to the Spurs). I mean, everybody. That’s what it seems like. It’s my fault. I’m out there by myself.”

HAHA! I bet you remember his name now Tracy! DERON WILLIAMS

Bring on L.A.!!!

This will be a quick post because I am not home at the moment but what a great win!!! More coming soon so stay tuned everyone!

Share how stoked you are and leave a comment!

3 quarters in, and you can call it.

Wow. I guess I should apologize for my game 5 prediction... This game was never close. When you let the home team go on three 7-0 runs, when the Jazz can't even hit half of what's supposed to be a "free" throw, and when your first bench point comes with a minute left in the 3rd, the score is going to look like it does now.. Houston simply looks like they want it more.

It's been a long time since I've seen a performance this absolutely hideous. The Jazz really better think long and hard about this one, because if they put in another night even kind of like tonight's, this series will be over.

First Half Thoughts: This is Uuuuuuugly

Ok this first half was just a joke. Houston is dominating us on every angle of the game. We are just standing around picking our butts waiting for whoever has the ball to do something. First of all, Deron, where were you in the first quarter?? Boozer, you are playing like a joke, step up and play like the all-star you are. Andre, no points? Standing around on offense? Also, where is the Jazz bench?? I could go on and on but I don't want to because it is just making me more sick.

We better get our acts together fast and stop playing like a bunch of pansies. Seriously, when did we get so afraid of these guys? I hope I can write a better post after the game but it's not looking to good. I am pretty surprised we cut the lead to 11 by the end of the half.

Game 5

Like many of you, I'm sure, I am none too pleased that the Jazz are headed back to Houston for a game 5. I had very high hopes that after unexpectedly winning games 1 and 2 in the Toyota Center, the Jazz would capitalize on that momentum, and run the Rockets in 4 games. So props to Houston for coming into Utah and punching the Jazz square in the teeth. I have no idea why I would ever think that a Jazz-Rockets series could ever end in a sweep... There's an entire Wikipedia article dedicated to the Jazz-Rockets rivalry, specifically the heavily contested playoff series the two teams have had over the years (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rockets-Jazz_rivalry). Game 4 was yet another testament to the fact that this is not going to be series that anyone is going to simply walk away with.

Unlike a few of my friends in the JazzNation, I do not despise or disrespect the Houston Rockets; they've been one team that has truly impressed me all year long, what with their ability to string off the streak they did with one of their megastars out. That takes a certain level of grit and determination that Utah fans are notorious for holding in high regard; and that grit has not abandoned this Rockets team in the playoffs either, it has only seemed to intensify as the series goes on. So as we turn our focus towards tonight's game (which has been shoved off the TNT airwaves and will only be shown on NBAtv, which is a topic worthy of its own post), I am quite apprehensive as to what the outcome will be. If I were to drive down to Vegas and throw a few bucks down a basketball game, I'd have to leave this one alone, because your guess is as good as mine.

I would have to agree with the assessment of ESPN.com's Scouts Inc for this game
(http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/playoffs2008/columns/story?page=ScoutingRocketsJazz-Game5)... You can basically flip a coin for this one.

As much as I'd like to put on my "homer hat" and say "WOOOOO JAZZ iz guna KILL ya fools in hoston!!!!11 T-mac suxx soo bad!" -- okay, now that's a lie, I have absolutely NO desire to ever put on my homer hat and sound like that... At all. I'm fairly certain I'd have to censure myself for eternity if I ever sounded like that... In fact, if
any of our good readers here at Jazz Hype find themselves writing anything similar to that on the ESPN.com or any respective website's "Conversation" sections following the game, please email us at jazzhype@gmail.com for a free lesson on how to not sound like an ignorant d-bag when rooting for your team.

But I digress... I fully expect game 5 to look like games 1-4. A physical, low scoring, intense game. I lean towards giving Houston the edge in this one based on the fact they have home court, but that seems to have not been a real factor for either team thus far. Look for Houston to continue to clog the middle, and make the Jazz absolutely battle for every point in the paint. Cross your fingers that the Jazz don't go 0-for from behind the arc, hope that Houston doesn't find a way to solve D-Will's absolute dominance of any point guard they throw at him, and pray that McGrady disappears in the fourth yet again... If most or all of those scenarios fall in Utah's favor -- the Jazz are looking towards LA -- if they fall in Houstons', however, we're coming back to Salt Lake for a game 6.

Remembering the days of yesterday. Motivation for today.

Going into game 5 at Houston, I can't stop thinking about Game 6 of the 1997 Western Conference Finals against Houston. This day will go down as one of the best days of my life. I remember it like it was yesterday.... The weather was warm, playoff fever was in the air, and I was watching the game with my family. (I was 14 or 15 at the time)

When the ball left Stockton's hands, we all knew it was going to be nothing but net. After the game we drove out to the airport and celebrated with thousands of other Jazz fans as our team had brought something to Salt Lake City that we had never tasted before. I actually remember a couple players crying, including Greg Foster and Chris Morris, as they drove away in their cars.

So while you are watching the final two minutes of this video, take the time to remember how good that felt and only hope that we get the opportunity to feel that again.

Jazz Haters in Houston

Browsing online today I stumbled upon our old friend and foe The Dream Shake. You know what I have come to realize over the past 10 years with Jazz Haters? They always pick thee dumbest things to criticize and make fun of.

The Dream Shake is no different. They are still whining about Karl Malone and his "dirty" tactics he used when he played back in the day. And most recently, wrote a brilliant post on Karl Malone being a dead beat dad. Let's face it people, I good sum of the players in the NBA are dead beat dads and illegitimate fathers to kids they don't even know about. It is a shame, I must say, but why bring that up to hate on a Jazz team that is up 3-1 on your team and will probably close you out tuesday night?

If you are going to be a jazz hater, at least come up with some good material that is current and up-to-date. I am going to be a nice guy and give The Dream Shake some examples on what they can post on their next blog about hating on the Jazz. Seriously guys, you are welcome to use any of the following suggestions for absolutely free.

"Deron sucks so bad. He completely posterizes our players and makes them look so insanely stupid. That is so not fair how he treated Rafer Alston and Shane Battier last game, I hate Deron!"

"I hate the jazz fans! They support their team so much. They are so loud, they know how to get into T-Mac's head, and they just all around suck! Other than the fact that Tracy is a complete choke artist and is afraid to help us out when it matters, the jazz fans are mostly to blame for keeping Tracy at a combined total of 12 points in the fourth quarter in the entire series! Go to hell Jazz fans!"

"Jerry Sloan is too good at coaching. I hate the guy. I wish he would just give up and retire like every old man should do. Year after year he makes us look bad during crunch time and I am getting sick of it. How does he know how to beat us so much? I hate his guts!"

Come up with some better material Rockets fans and stop living in the past. Present day says you are one game away from vacation. At least Carl Landry will be happy so he can go get his tooth fixed and have a normal summer.

Come on Coach... Man up...

I want to preface this post by saying that I really respect Rick Adelman as a coach. He's given the Jazz fits ever since he coached the Trailblazers way back when Dikembe Mutombo was mere 38 years old. With that being said, I was pretty disappointed to hear some of his comments after game 4, basically nearing what could only be described as pure whining when it came to questions about physical play. I was further disappointed to read an article in the Salt Lake Tribune reporting that Adelman is sending some tapes to the NBA hoping to "resolve" the physical play on Tracy McGrady. (read the full article here: http://www.sltrib.com/jazz/ci_9085695)

Now let's get one thing straight here, I'm not one of those fans who walks around pretending like my team does no wrong, while the opposing team is nothing but a bunch Tysonesque baby eaters. I fully realize that the Jazz have a tendency to play hard and foul... a lot... I also realize that they probably get away with some bumps and shoves that could be called as fouls, but aren't; but let's get one thing straight, it's not like the Rocketeers are out there defending the Jazz with nothing but foul-less defense and the patented "Tracy Scowl" -- In fact, I would submit that the only thing that's kept the Rockets hanging as close as they have in this series is their own scrappy and physical play. With the exception of the Shooting Guard, the Jazz have the talent advantage over Houston in every position, as well as the bench as a whole. As Jazz fans should recognize, the best way to compete against a more talented team is to get out there and "Matt Harpring" your opponent.

Matt Harpring - verb - To out-hustle, out-muscle, and drive your opponent literally insane with physical play until they "Ron Artestify" and become less effective in the game at hand.

Ron Artestify - verb - See "Rasheed Wallaceticate"

Anyways, back to my point. Just watch the play of Carl Landry, Old Man Mutombo, or any other non-McGrady on Houston's squad, and you'll see them hanging in the games at hand by out-hustling and out-muscling the Jazz. The Jazz aren't the only ones playing physical, they aren't the only ones fouling, and they aren't the only ones getting away with calls. Officiating is no exact science, and both teams are going to be on the good and bad end of calls throughout the course of a game. Now sure, the Jazz are zeroing in on Tracy with as many players as possible, but I can guarantee you that Kobe isn't going to melt down and drop a total of 12 combined points in all 4th quarters of first 4 games of the series come next round. Yeah, he'd probably be just as likely as McGrady to throw every member of his team under the bus before shouldering the responsibility himself, but I just have a feeling that now Coach Adelman is subscribing to the McGrady philosophy of "I know it can't be my fault I've folded like a bad hand in the 4th quarter all series long, so I just have to figure out who I can blame so I don't cry at the press conference this year."

We expect that kind of thought process out of Tracy, but Coach, we didn't expect this out of you...

Deron Williams Schooling Rafer Alston!

"Skip-to-my-Lou" nothin!  I don't care if you had a fancy nickname in the and1 mixtapes and you would pull these types of moves. Deron owns you on the offensive end, that's all there is to it.

Masha Kirilenko's Store - Fleur de Lis

Masha Kirilenko has a new boutique down at Gateway. It is called Fleur de Lis. From what I hear it's a great little shop and it is providing some much needed style to people in Utah. Yes, people in Utah could use some style advice.

Here are a few pics from the grand opening party. Jazz crew in full-effect:

Dee Brown? Come back to the team Dee!

CJ looking pretty stylin.

Andre trying on some new clothes. Think he has to pay?

Deron looks like he is looking for someone.

Andre playin on the phone.

The Second Round Virgin

Don't know who made this sign but it is out of this world genius and about to ring true very quickly. If you know who made this sign, let us know!

Who is this guy??

If you didn't catch this, after last night's game, Tracy McGrady was at the podium talking to reporters and decided to forget who Deron Williams was. Who is Deron Williams? Come on McGrady, give me a break! You are a pathetic excuse for a superstar! It's time for you and your massive ego to start your summer vacation. Good luck in the fourth quarter in game 5.
